Professionals and skilled workers

In most cases you would need to have gained a formal qualification such as a degree or trade qualifications confirming completion of an apprenticeship. Equivalent qualifications and experience can often be taken into account when assessing an individual’s ability – this is often the case for Tradespersons.

The lead applicant must be under the age of 45 years at time of application.

Business owners and investors

Successful business owners and experienced executives have the opportunity to apply for special business visas. Individuals must be able to demonstrate their ability and be able to support any future opportunities that they wish to develop with funds and quality business plans.

Investors need to demonstrate a track record of successful investment. Your minimum assets available must not be less than AU$1,250,000 of which AU$750,000 has previously been invested and available for future investment.

The lead applicant must be under 55 years of age at the time of application.

Investor Retirement

The minimum age for the lead applicant is 55 years. This temporary visa is valid four years and demands an investment in Australia for the period of stay. For areas designated as regional you must have capital of at least AU$500.000 and invest AU$250,000 plus an annual income of AU$50,000. In other approved areas the amounts are capital AU$750.000, invest AU$500.000 and income AU$65,000.

Family and Relationships

Individuals within this group need a member of their family overseas to sponsor them. The rules are varied and normally only apply to immediate family members.

Those engaged or in a de facto relationship with a citizen or permanent resident can also apply to emigrate.

People With Special Talent

Individuals with exceptional skills knowledge or standing can qualify to migrate. Typically these individuals would be at the top of their profession or art and probably known internationally.
